The 10 year battery lifetime Active-Tag

IN THIS ISSUE

Editorial : Substantial energy saving with wireless sensors

editoProduction of Active-Tags in panels of 9 on INGECOM’s full automatic production lineIt’s not a mystery to anyone that the trend of the global cost of energy is raising, and the curve is not going to revert back. More or less everyone understands that the consumption model we have today is not affordable on the long run, therefore needs to be adapted.

When it comes to digging into the cost spent for energy the first reaction is to check where to save for unnecessary calories. The wireless sensing is an easy and efficient way to monitor information like temperature or ambient light. One single controller can forward to a PLC the data of hundreds of sensors making the cost of sensing totally harmless. 30 to 50% reduction in energy consumption is common with a smart spread of sensors, in addition to an increased perceived comfort. Read the Mac Kinsey article here.

All the INGECOM Active-Tag sensors are compatible and designed to operate over the same network with the same application software.

Energy efficiency is on our focus. The 10 year battery lifetime with a 20s interval tempe-rature sensing and report is by far more energy and cost efficient than any of the Wi-Fi solution.

New Products: Atex certified Active-Tag

Update: SIM-RFID

sim-rfid

The GSM/SIM-RFID concept has hit a very broad audience, which led to many inquiries. Interestingly, most of the applications foreseen are not competing with the NFC. The long range distance communication (usually more than 3m, depending on the mobile phone used) opens a wide segment of application all based on hands-free automatic detection

Interestingly, one of the applications consists of turning a tablet into a handheld active-tag reader with the SIM-RFID. Check for an example here

A license is available for the software functions to build the Chip Operating System.

New Products: Active-Tag key chain holder

key-chain

Operates just like any other INGECOM Active-Tag without the near-field 13.56MHz capability. This key-chain holder is totally plastic over-molded, hence provides totally IP67 protection on top of virtually indestructible capabilities.

The format 2.56” x 1.38” x 0.4” (65 x 35 x 10 mm) is adapted for applications where the size counts.

Samples from the production batch are available immediately
