The 10 year battery lifetime Active-Tag

Editorial : Facing the expansion

editoMicroscope view of the silicon chip inside INGECOM’s SIM-RFID. Magnification x40’000The currently elapsed period is very rich in new projects. Sharing those events into an editorial is unfortunately not possible, but no doubts that there is some very interesting news to publish.

Without entering into details, those projects demonstrate the interesting diversity of the potential of the Active Tags and Wireless sensors. Each individual system integrator considers the Active Tag as a different tool according to his own feeling, and finds an application in hospitals, on board specific boats, in museums, or in a larger scale for the industrial logistics.

With our new production plant located in the same building as our R&D, we have the capability to respond quickly to the demand. The proximity of the R&D and production is also a key-factor for the cost optimization of our products.

All the INGECOM Active-Tag sensors are compatible and designed to operate over the same network with the same application software.
Energy efficiency is on our focus. The 10 year battery lifetime with a 20s interval tempe-rature sensing and report is by far more energy and cost efficient than any of the Wi-Fi solutions.

Update: SIM-RFID

The GSM/SIM-RFID concept has hit a very broad audience, which led to many inquiries. One of the many interesting application is currently being tested for the public transport.

The long range communication (usually more than 3m, depending on the mobile phone used) opens new ideas of applications all based on automatic hands-free detection.

A license is available for the software functions to build the Chip Operating System.

The ATEX certification (ATEX 94/9/EC) involves a detailed process of examination, testing and assessment of equipment intended for use in potentially hazardous areas, with the end result being the issue of an ATEX certificate and report, confirming and demonstrating that the product is safe to use (within certain parameters) within potentially explosive atmospheres.

News from the market

Public Transport

INGECOM has installed a live demonstrator for hands-free ticketing for the public transport, based on the patented BiBo principle.

The SIM-RFID is part of the demonstration.

The Swiss railway operator has ordered this installation to demonstrate and experiment the future railway ticket. A very wide interest has been caught in Europe. A representative of the German VDV came to trial the system. He declared himself impressed by the performance of this BiBo concept.
